The Kalahari Spice Company is a small boutique Spice company. We always experimented with numerous herbs and spices creating our own selection of flavours and tastes that complimented the dishes prepared.

Kalahari Spices is located in Kuilsrivier Western Cape. The Kalahari Spice Company started in September 2018 and is owned and run by Mark & Linda Hinrichsen. The idea behind Kalahari Spices started to evolve many years back while we were sitting around a campfire deep in the Kalahari Desert at an off the grid campsite called Rooiputs located in the Botswana Section of the Kgalagadi Trans-frontier Park.

For many years prior to this we always experimented with numerous herbs and spices creating our own selection of flavours and tastes that complimented the dishes we prepared. We found that the mass-produced products purchased in the grocery stores were often loaded with salt, artificial flavourants, colourants and preservatives. We can recall our “first” commercial attempt at packing spices by hand in our kitchen using basic utensils such as a plastic jug and funnel with a small domestic scale and printed our own labels on adhesive paper. This was to become the foundation of a small emerging micro-enterprise that has evolved into a successful small business that services independent butcheries, deli’s, farmstalls, SANParks shops and small retail outlets across the country.

We source our quality range of herbs and spices from reputable companies.

Companies such as Crown National Spices, Freddy Hirsch, Margot Swiss, GR Spices, Spice City, HQ Foods and others. These herbs and spices are then carefully blended and mixed according to our closely guarded recipes that brings you the consumer a unique choice of flavours to compliment the food you prepare. From a lamb Tjoppie on the Braai to Potjiekos and from Sunday Roast or Salads to a Flame Grilled Steak we are sure to have a spice in our range that will compliment the choice of food you are preparing while bringing our the flavour you desire.

Our product range includes the following variants: Worcester Sauce Spice, Braai & Grill Spice, Chicken Spice, Portuguese Peri-Peri, Garlic Flakes, Plankie Steak Spice, Barbeque Spice, Lemon Pepper with herbs, Mediterranean Olive & Herb Rub and Steak & Chop Spice.
